El Rodeo - a return to Costa Rica

El Rodeo - a return to Costa Rica

Our team will visit farm partners across four different regions in Central America this year, and our first trip of the harvest season was this month - a return to Costa Rica! We were able to bring team members from multiple departments to experience coffee at origin, which is always rewarding and bursting with hospitality from our friends, new and old!

Through an introduction by our friends at Hacienda La Minita, we are delighted to experience our second harvest working with Javier Umaña, a producer in the El Rodeo community of Costa Rica’s Santa María de Dota.

With his coffee growing at some of the highest elevations in the area, he continues to produce coffees that are absolutely delicious year after year. What began last harvest as a small test is now a larger lot of naturally-processed coffee made exclusively for 8th & Roast.

With support from Hacienda La Minita’s expert post-harvest team, precise fermentation, along with careful drying and milling, bring out the full potential of this coffee and reflect the dedication of Don Javier and his family. The result? El Rodeo brings notes of watermelon bubblegum, blackberry pie, and green apple in the cup.

For a limited time, it’s available on drip and pour-over in our cafés, with retail bags available online and in-store.

We're brimming with joy to release El Rodeo immediately after our trip to Costa Rica. Sometimes the timing just works! We’re grateful to the entire La Minita team for working with us with care and hospitality as we find exceptional coffees for our coffee community here.
